An Open Floor Meditation Cycle Retreat with Jenny Macke
stay tuned for future date
In the Open Floor Movement Practice we work with a meditation cycle that encompasses sitting meditation, walking meditation and dancing meditation. We cycle through these three states of meditation twice, sometimes 3 times, to drop deeper and deeper into an embodied state of connection and stillness. We will practice the cycle outside in the forest and on the river, as well as in the movement studio. In between practice there will be time to rest in a hammock, swim in the river, walk in the forest. A true respite from busy-ness in the warmth & heart of summer.
Wild Retreat with Jenny Macke
stay tuned for future date…
To speak of Wildness we speak of wholeness. We humans come from that wildness. - Gary Snyder
This retreat combines The Wild Mind work inspired by Bill Plotkin’s book of the same title & embodiment movement and dance. Jenny has a passion for both these pursuits, with decades of study, they now offer a weekend focused on this deep “wholing” work. Come learn to embody more of your multi-faceted wild psyche and cultivate simple practices to bring it into your everyday life.
Weave - A Retreat with Jenny Macke with other collaborators TBA
stay tuned for future date
Through Open Floor dance, dreamwork, art making and time in a wild and beautiful place, we will tease out the threads that make you uniquely you. We will seek openings to soul clues that point you in authentic directions. We will practice the resource of release to tease out knots that keep you tethered down instead of interconnected to the whole.
Weaving is an ancient way that people have come together to bring forth beauty and provide necessary containers to function as humans. This workshop is just that; a container, to bring your unique beauty forth and a fertile container for your body & soul.
*Anyone who identifies as woman or wants to explore this aspect of themselves is fully welcome.
Weekend Retreat Prices Include camping and dinner Friday & Saturday night (For the Weave Retreat Dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday night) and simple breakfasts of granola, cereal, fruit and eggs.
When camping there will be access to a big indoor kitchen, bathrooms and gathering spaces. If camping, you must provide for your own camping gear, towels and personal items. If it is Fall months and you prefer to stay inside due to cold weather, we make available the floor space in the dance space as a possible option. You have to clean up and take down your sleeping space each morning by 8am.
In general, a large evening meal will be served Friday & Saturday night (plus Thursday when applicable) that can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, & gluten free options. Some animal protein will also be served. Participants will be expected to provide their own snacks & lunch for Saturday & Sunday (plus Friday for Weave Retreat). A small amount of refrigerator space will be available for participants to store breakfast and lunch items. Tea will be available throughout the days.
For the New Years Retreat we will provide indoor sleep accommodations for all participants. More information to come on this.
If for a regular retreat, camping is not your preference, We do have an air bnb on our property that can sleep up to four (2 large beds) or can just be reserved for your personal use. Send email to info@jennymacke.com to inquire if this is still available and reserve after registration. It is $75.00 per night with a private kitchen and bathroom. Below is a link for reference/pictures, but please reserve through Jenny as we have taken this weekend off Air BNB availability.
Just a short walk from River Root Farm, this beautiful home in the woods can be shared with several other participants on the retreat. Please coordinate with Jenny if this option interests you and she will help link together several people to have this home as a place to stay. It will appear “booked” on the Air BNB website because it is reserved for River Root Retreats. In consideration of our neighbors, this must be booked at the latest 2 weeks before the workshop, so plan early if this is your preference.

Native Territories:
RiverRoot Farm is located on the ancestral lands of the Nooksack people. From the Nooksack Website here is an account of the colonization of their lands. “The Nooksack were one of many Indian groups which were party to the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855, in which title to the land of much of western Washington was exchanged for recognition of fishing, hunting and gathering rights, and a guarantee of certain government services. The Nooksack were not granted a reservation. They were expected to move to the Lummi Reservation, but few did. In 1873 and 1874 attempts were made to move the Nooksacks to the reservation, but it became clear that they would not move without military force and it was recommended that the Nooksack Indians be allowed to remain in the Nooksack Valley (Richardson 1977, 1979:10-11). Following this, Nooksacks were able to gain legal title to small portions of their traditional lands, including many of the village sites, by filing homestead claims on them”. There is more to this history. Here is a LINK to their website.
We acknowledge the tragic and inhumane treatment that occurred in colonization of this land and make direct reparation to native peoples. We also acknowledge that by no means does this make up for what happened, but do so in good intent and in respect for the Nooksack people “Whose name comes from a place name in their language and translates to “always bracken fern roots.” We value interconnection and respect for this land, the plants and animals. We believe it is meant to be shared with people of all colors, race, religions, gender and sexual orientations. We are committed to being conscious stewards of this place for others to come and find intimacy and interconnected relationship to the natural world.
